Create 80: I am Embracing the Day, and getting the satisfaction of a Good Day’s Work.

Yesterday, in the pursuit of FeelGoodfm and ‘Following Your Instincts‘ – and also as an antidote to the exhaustion I was feeling – I prescribed myself a Happiness Day. This is a riff on the homework we set for trainee Mental Health First Aiders to undertake between training sessions: the ‘Happiness Hour’. A whole Happiness Day was fun and wholesome… I felt it doing the work of rewiring my brain towards an orientation of fun/warmth/joy-seeking (vs threat-identification).

The principle I set myself was to decide on each next activity according to what it felt would make me happy, nourished, uplifted in that moment. So it went like this:

Happiness Day (Bank Hol Monday):

  1. ST with G <3
  2. Pita chips, houmous, diet coke & hanging out with G.
  3. Watching The Office (US) in bed (at 1pm)
  4. Putting the laundry on
  5. A walk in the woods listening to…
    1. CMyss Advanced Energy Anatomy (chap7) on Addiction vs Congruency – oh my, Caroline, you are a genius. May my heart and head become fully congruent; may my 4th, 5th and 6th chakras talk to each other and make a good alliance; may I have the spiritual will to be congruent. <3
    2. Abraham-Hicks podcast on ‘revelling‘ – just brilliant:
  6. Bread, butter, tea and chat with G in kitchen
  7. Back to bed again with a book – first, my hardcore book on medical ethics but when I noticed it was making me tense, I dropped it for something happier, and started a new novel, a love story. (The Sight of You, Holly Miller)
  8. Laundry hanging-up and 6pm Radio 4 news with a glass of fizz….

Of course, after the fizz, the focus is gone. Hm…

And today…. What will make you Happy-of-Heart today, dear Heart?

Heart says: Revelling in a Good Day’s Work. Yes, we know you’ve felt worried and hang-dog about your work… Drop that stuff!! Your Heart feels happy when doing a Good Day’s Work. That’s when we feel truly congruent: the Head and the Heart work together, and your 5th Chakra Choices oil the wheels of progress at every turn. And you know it is all working, because you are earning enough to live on, and more. Yes, it’s good to get satisfaction from work. And as you gain satisfaction from your work, you’ll better be able to mould your work to exactly what it is that will best serve the needs of the moment and of your Inner Being.

Are you and my Inner Being the same?

Heart says: Not at all. Your Inner Being is made up of many aspects. It is well-connected to your soul thread. As your Heart, I am your Earth Navigator while you are on this plane. Am I in touch with your Inner Being? ENTIRELY!

What is a soul thread?

Heart says: The etheric cord between you on this plane and the ‘you’ in the non-physical plane.

Can I talk to the ‘me’ in the non-physical plane?

Heart says: You do, daily. You ‘Feel Good’ when you do and when you act on its behalf.

Ah. Ty. So Heart – ‘Earth Navigator’. How would it be if you took the reins today, and gave Head a bit of a break?

Heart says: That would be a pleasure. But I’d therefore like us to get up and move pretty quickly.

Really? What about meditation?

Heart says: What you need more than anything is STRENGTH in your body to Feel Good.

Really?!

Heart says: 100%

And my routine?

Heart says: Yes! Following your routine – but at pace. You have a Good Day’s Work to do. At the end of it you will feel Satisfaction, the Satisfaction of Using the Minutes with Awareness and Awakeness and Appreciation. When we go from Wake to Sleep to Wake… like a child… we can truly live in the moment. When we sleep through our days, in a fug or slowly… we d r a g our spirits down.

So, turn on and turn off, but do not hover in the middle.

Embrace the Day.

I love that phrase: Embrace the Day.

Better than ‘seize’ too…

Heart says: Think of the farmer who does a Good Day’s Work, and feels the satisfaction of it.

So I can Embrace the Good Day’s Work…?

Heart says: You can Embrace the Day, and get the satisfaction of a Good Day’s Work.

Ok. I hear you. That’s the spirit. Thank you.

I am Embracing the Day, and getting the satisfaction of a Good Day’s Work.

<3 Move your body!

And also… Judge No-One. Judging others is the incongruent, addictive behaviour which drains one most of the natural reservoirs of joie de vivre. It is a supreme energy sucker. Don’t go there. Don’t indulge that part of your make-up for a second. Spot it by all means… and walk right round it. You’ll have so much more energy for your own Day. If you have judging thoughts appear… note them, let ’em go, and thank yourself for having the capacity to choose life, not death.

Btw, this includes Self! Judge No-one including Oneself. Instead, constantly affirm the Good Day’s Work one is undertaking. This is key to that satisfaction that makes it all hook up to the original Source. Ok?

Ok!

Therefore, ‘guilt’ is not permitted, as guilt arises from self-judgment. Only recognition and praise in invited when we are Embracing The Day for a Good Day’s Work. <3

Got it! 🙂

Oh heavens… it’s not so much judgment as resentment… It bubbles under the surface. I did some research including Louise Hay…

On reflection I feel that often I am resenting people who encroach on my boundaries not so much for the fact of their encroachment (which often arises out of lack of info) but I resent them because they force me to enact good boundaries!!

This to watch tomorrow – I love Karla McLaren so much:

Create 36: I am penthouse-living

In the Power of Holy Language (audio programme) Caroline Myss describes her metaphor of the 12 storey building in New York. The tale goes like this. Caroline goes to visit a friend in NY on a hot August day. The streets are thick with heat, pollution and noise, and the clamour of hot, frustrated drivers and pedestrians. She enters the building her friend lives in. She gets in the lift and goes up 12 stories to her friend’s penthouse. The views are amazing – you can see the Hudson river, the air is sweet, the light is bright, the balcony is a mini-central park… heaven.

Realisation: this is the very same address as the apartment on the ground floor amidst the noise, heat and clamour, with no views and no light. But on the penthouse level, it’s a completely different experience. Same address; radically different experiences.

The metaphor: We live in our lives like we live in a 12 storey building. We can abide in the hot, dark ground floor; or in the cool, airy penthouse; or anywhere in between. The work of life is to feel good enough about ourselves, and to be willing to ‘pay the price’, to move upstairs a storey, again and again and again…

What could I know, do or ponder on that would help me move up a storey in my own life? Yesterday, the roadmap out of this pandemic lockdown was announced. We have five more weeks of this hard but precious ‘stay-at-home’ protocol (til 29 March); seven more weeks til non-essential shops reopen and outdoor dining is allowed; and four more months before most restrictions on social contact are lifted (21 June). How can I optimise the value of this exceptional time to reflect, review, tweak, and ‘storey up’?

Go the Stillpoint, your internal ‘placenta’ where you can intermingle your consciousness with your eternal knowing.

***

  1. Cease describing your ground floor flat. Move out already.
  2. Start ‘acting as if’ you live in your penthouse.

So if I lived in my penthouse I would…

  • move more gracefully and peacefully
  • spend time minimising and organising and putting things out of sight
  • I’d give more precedent to light
  • I’d emphasise the orientation of my furniture to looking outwards, to the views
  • I’d float about with poise and purpose
  • I’d honour the space, and myself in it
  • I’d be grateful for my space

Thinking of Minimalist Melody who inspired (and baffled) me for years with her simple, graceful, focussed (penthouse-esque) living approach wherever she was… I just looked her up… omg… she left YouTube in Dec19… and is now on IG being… a trainee PILOT.

Organise your today so that your tomorrow can unfurl sooner.

I need a VA to expand and consolidate and safeguard my business…

Are you willing to pay for such a person? As CMyss says, you need to be willing to pay for the next storey up. Catch 22, or… proof of concept.

Yes… I know I’m trying to bootstrap all the time. Maybe I should do an actual business budget for 2021/2. And personal budget… Get on top on money in/out for me and for business. THAT would change the goals I would set for myself in terms of how I sell my services and products.

Organise your today so that your tomorrow can unfurl sooner. ‘Level up. Level up.’ It is in no one’s interests for you to stay where you are and complain about it.

Yes.

Get clear about your future. Get clear. That vision board. Do a Melody.

What are your dreams? Articulate them. Visualise them. Don’t hold back! Ask for what you want. That is basically THE KEY lesson of this age. Can’t you see that yet? For your conflict resolution clients. For your workplaces rife with mental ill health. They all are missing that key: Ask for what you want. And as NVC would put it, this isn’t just about wants, it’s about human needs, which include adventure, fulfilment, feeling valued. What does everyone want? Expansion! And what is expansion? Moving up a storey in your own building! There’s no need to move house…! Just level up in your own home. Stop looking at the world out of your street-level letter box…:

…when you can go to your penthouse and marvel at the vistas…!

The $29.5 million View from "Penthouse 57", New York : pics

This is not a financial procedure so much as a consciousness shift. It starts in you, and then out-manifests… maybe into a new penthouse home, but more fundamentally in to a more expansive life. Get it?

Yes.

So move your mind to your penthouse suite. Ok, dear heart?

I will do that thing! I will play with that today and learn and learn…

I am penthouse-living

Create 35: I am self-serving, dutifully and humbly

In The Power of Holy Language, Caroline Myss is starting to move into a central tenet for the audio  programme, which is roughly this:

Self-esteem => empowerment => the journey towards the soul

What words would you have for me on the topic of self-esteem today?

The person of self-esteem builds her own house. She sets her own timetable. She calls upon the resources she needs to achieve all she sets out to do.

Like CMyss… with her world of her business partner, spiritual director, agent, editors…

Yes.

And we’re still watching The Crown, season 2… where ERII is finding and holding her own, in terms of her wayward husband, staff, sister and uncle…

Your work is being presented to you step by step. Your role is to find the resources to undertake it. This refers to interior and external resources. To resource ourselves, we need to foster self-esteem. This means not to be led, carried, reduced or mediated by our wounds. This therefore means to assume the throne of our own free will. This thus means to hold the wheel of the ship of our own self-determination. Day by day. Moment by moment. Self-sovereign, hour by hour.

What is ‘self-sovereign’.

Reigning of self. Monarch of the monarchy of one’s own self. Self-serving, and dutifully, humbly so.

Golly. I think I’ll pray with this a minute…

***

Sitting and breathing at that ‘placenta’ point where my being and your knowing intermingle, beyond words, in perfect present moment awareness. May I download the knowing I need to take the next step.

The Stillpoint. That placenta point is the Stillpoint. It’s where all the good stuff is. It takes some trust to spend time there, doesn’t it?

Yes. Because, you can feel all that is unresolved and active and seeking in you.

And that is where the integration happens.

Amen.

***

Play with the invitation to be ‘self-serving’ today – dutifully and humbly so.

Interesting. It’s giving me the impression that self-esteem involves a humble, servant like approach to oneself, rather than a vain or vaunting over-estimation of one’s importance…

The self is a might power-house. Honour it as you would a racing car – in other words, drive it with care, with respect and with wonder. And enjoy the ride!

I will explore the notion of being ‘self-serving’ today (dutifully and humbly so) and see what I learn. Thank you for this. Grant me focus, clarity and energy.

Amen.

I am self-serving, dutifully and humbly

Day notes:

  • Tilting the balance towards self-serving (dutifully and humbly) is the key to being able to serve other effectively. ie. STO starts with wholesome STS.
  • NOT: STO by ignoring or denying or abnegating self
  • Self-serving => allows for more innovation and responsiveness
