Create 37: I am shining a torchlight on hope

Your advice please. What can I do to help my parties get up a storey in the mediation tomorrow? What can I do to help me and C. to ‘storey up’ and work well together in our training today?

“What would make life more wonderful?” Asking that question is the central factor? And of course, “What’s alive in me/you?” as the preceding step. Can you trust the NVC process?

It’s about the human needs, isn’t it?

AP’s parents need to feel safe, respected, valued… They need to feel the same for AP. The hospital needs to feel the same too – immersed as they are in legal responsibilities, Covid and constrained resources….

Ask the question, “What’s on top?” As in, what’s the most important factor to decide?

Yes.

Your role and duty is to AP, the patient. Do you understand that? Your duty of care is unto this young individual. Ask the parties: how do you decide? Safety, speed, certainty? No, what would AP prefer?  Then, ask is it rigorous enough? No. Then what does it need?

Creating ONE gantt chart, with OOA Pathway and Ken Pathway running in parallel… that is going to need to be it. No? Dependencies…

What principles are at play here?

Ask yourself, what is the opposite of fear, anger and grief.

Ah.. I’d thought: confidence….? I forget..

Hope. It’s all about hope.

I need people to emerge with grounds for hope.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hope  Hope is an optimistic state of mind that is based on an expectation of positive outcomes with respect to events and circumstances in one’s life or the world at large.[1] As a verb, its definitions include: “expect with confidence” and “to cherish a desire with anticipation.”[2]

So the question: “What would make you feel more hopeful for the future?” is a useful one….

Never underestimate the power of the human spirit to rise up towards hope. If you can help people feel HOPE you are truly navigating the path towards… the next storey. On the 12th storey, optimism is the natural way.

From fear-anger-grief, to HOPE and on to OPTIMISM. Love it.

Say: I am shining a torchlight on hope.

I am shining a torchlight on hope
